About the position

As a Software Developer at HealthStream, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining the software products that are essential to our operations. This position requires collaboration with team leaders and senior developers to understand and refine requirements, ensuring that the software aligns with technology best practices and product offerings. You will be involved in the entire software development lifecycle, from business concept to detailed technical design, and will be responsible for developing quality, defect-free software that adheres to company coding and documentation standards. In this role, you will also be expected to mentor junior technical team members, fostering an environment of learning and growth. Your participation in group discussions on technical implementation and solution design will contribute to a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. You will troubleshoot and resolve defects by tracing them back to the related source code, determining the scope of impact of changes made to the codebase, and collaborating with Quality Assurance to ensure software quality and performance. Effective communication is key in this position, as you will need to translate technical aspects of your work to non-technical co-workers, ensuring clear and transparent communication across teams. Additionally, you will contribute to solution documentation, facilitating knowledge transfer and process clarity. Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain software products offered by HealthStream.
  • Work with team leaders and senior developers to understand and refine requirements.
  • Help design and estimate effort of new features or sub-systems from business concept to detailed technical design.
  • Develop quality, defect-free software that adheres to company coding and documentation standards.
  • Mentor junior technical team members, fostering an environment of learning and growth.
  • Participate in group discussions on technical implementation and solution design.
  • Trace defects/functionality back to the related source code, ensuring swift problem resolution.
  • Determine the scope of impact of changes made to the codebase.
  • Participate in standard processes such as code deployments.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance on appropriate use case and test case development.
  • Translate technical aspects of work to non-technical co-workers.
  • Contribute clear and concise solution documentation.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering (any discipline), or a closely related field of study is preferred.
  • At least 1 year of experience in the job offered or as a Developer, Consultant, Software Engineer, or closely related occupation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of DevOps best practices, including CI/CD and automation, and associated development.
  • Knowledge of C#/.NET technologies and Microsoft stack is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of the application-level database interface (experience with MS SQL server is preferred).
