About the position

The Texas Rangers are seeking a full-stack Software Developer to design, develop, deploy, and maintain custom web and cloud-based applications for baseball operations. This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders to gather requirements, implementing process improvements, and communicating technical issues effectively. The developer will work closely with data analysts and engineers to create scalable solutions while maintaining existing applications.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, deploy, and maintain custom web and cloud-based applications for baseball operations based on stakeholder feedback and requirements.
  • Maintain and iterate on the current suite of applications.
  • Identify and implement internal process improvements through automation and optimization.
  • Collaborate with data analysts, engineers, IT, and other developers to build optimal, scalable solutions.
  • Communicate with stakeholders and executives regarding application-related technical issues and the development of new products.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 1-5 years of industry relevant experience.
  • B.S. Degree or higher in engineering, computer science, web design, or a related technical field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience delivering software solutions using JavaScript and .NET (C#/NodeJS/Express/React/D3/three.js).
  • Extensive experience with SQL (SQL Server, Postgres, and BigQuery) and HTML/CSS.
  • Familiarity with cloud computing, storage, and warehousing (Databricks, AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Snowflake, etc.).
  • Experience with developer tools and processes (source control, code reviews, requirement management, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of and desire to work with baseball data and analysis.
  • Strong written, verbal, and visualization skills.
  • Ability to innovate based on a variety of baseball datasets.
  • A creative mindset, open-mindedness, and desire to work in a learning culture.
