About the position

As a Software Developer at StandardAero, you will play a crucial role in defining, developing, testing, analyzing, supporting, and maintaining both new and existing software applications. Your work will directly support the achievement of business requirements, ensuring that our teams function effectively and efficiently. You will be responsible for researching, designing, documenting, and modifying software specifications throughout the production life cycle, which is essential for the continuous improvement of our software solutions. In this position, you will collaborate closely with internal users and various departments to assist in defining software's business requirements, objectives, deliverables, and specifications on a project-by-project basis. You will work with the IT team to identify the best migration plans for various internal applications, ensuring a smooth transition and minimal disruption to operations. Additionally, you will assist in defining software development project plans, including scoping, scheduling, and implementation, which are critical for meeting project deadlines and delivering quality software. Your role will also involve enhancing the functionality and performance of company applications as necessary, generating statistics, and writing reports for management and team members on the status of the programming process. This position requires a keen attention to detail and strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, as you will be tasked with identifying and fulfilling the requirements of all internal and external program users.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the definition, development, and documentation of software's business requirements, objectives, deliverables, and specifications on a project-by-project basis in collaboration with internal users and departments.
  • Work closely with IT team & various departments to identify the best migration plan for various internal applications.
  • Assist in defining software development project plans, including scoping, scheduling, and implementation.
  • Research, identify, analyze, and fulfill requirements of all internal and external program users.
  • Enhance functionality and/or performance of company applications as necessary.
  • Generate statistics and write reports for management and/or team members on the status of the programming process.

Requirements

  • Post-Secondary Education in Computer Science or Business Information Systems.
  • Excellent understanding of coding methods and best practices with proficiency in Oracle framework, tools, and database structures.
  • At least 5 years of experience required.
  • Proficiency in Oracle Forms/Report 12c or higher, Advanced PL/SQL features, Packages, Functions and Procedures, SQL loader, SQL Scripts, Db links.
  • Understanding of other relational Database structures and integration tools.
  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills to effectively communicate with non-technical staff.
  • Ability to conduct research into software-related issues and products.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed with the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Keen attention to detail and proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Oracle ADF 12c or Oracle Mobile Application Framework MAF (optional).
  • Oracle Discoverer reporting OR PowerBI tools (Optional).
  • Knowledge of other software tools: Microsoft packages (Outlook, Excel, Word, Team, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Source Control Repositories software: Serena PVCS or understanding other similar tools.
  • Understanding of desk ticket systems: prefer JIRA or similar.
  • Prior experience interviewing end-users for insight on functionality, interface, problems, and/or usability issues.
