About the position

The position involves developing, creating, and modifying general computer applications software or specialized utility programs. The primary focus is on analyzing user needs and developing software solutions that optimize operational efficiency. The role requires designing software or customizing existing software to meet specific operational requirements. Key responsibilities include designing and developing software systems according to specifications using appropriate tools, maintaining and modifying existing software, and analyzing user needs and software requirements to determine the feasibility of design within time and cost constraints. The position also involves performing custom programming to support business needs, consulting with other departments on project status, proposals, and technical issues related to software system design and maintenance. Additionally, the role requires coordinating software system installation and monitoring equipment functioning to ensure that specifications are met, as well as developing and directing software system testing and validation procedures, programming, and documentation. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop software systems, following specifications using appropriate tools
  • Maintain and/or modify existing software
  • Analyze user needs and software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints
  • Perform custom programming to support business needs
  • Consult with other departments on project status, proposals and technical issues such as software system design and maintenance
  • Coordinate software system installation and monitor equipment functioning to ensure specifications are met
  • Develop and direct software system testing and validation procedures, programming, and documentation
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • A related machine trades certificate/diploma and five years relevant experience, or ten years relevant experience
  • Demonstrated programming skills
  • Experience with specific software applications, i.e., Visual Basic, C++, MS Suite, CAD/CAM
  • Demonstrated systems analysis skills
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with database connectivity in SQL
  • Experience with ERP systems, IFS preferred
  • Strong complex problem-solving skills and creative ability
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts in an easily understood manner both in writing and verbally; clear and concise verbal and written communications
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status.
