About the position

As a Software Developer at Paycom, you will engage in high-paced software development for international projects, necessitating strong verbal and written communication skills in both German and English. Your role will involve integrating our products and services with external entities, including vendors, clients, and other third parties. The projects you will work on will require robust organizational skills and a solid understanding of payroll, accounting, or benefits industry knowledge. You will be responsible for developing a variety of software solutions, from industry-wide services to client-specific reports and interfacing technologies. Your primary responsibilities will include creating development code for various product modules such as Payroll, Talent Acquisition, Time Management, Human Resources, Talent Management, and Reports. You will also be tasked with developing standard code for the Human Capital Management (HCM) industry, as well as customized code and reports tailored to client needs, including EDI. After testing, you will make necessary adjustments to the code to address any concerns raised during the testing phase. Collaboration is key in this role; you will partner with technology professionals, quality assurance teams, and application support to ensure the successful deployment and support of projects. In addition to technical development, you will engage in project management activities, utilizing software tools to track communication regarding development specifications, testing, and fixes. You will participate in team and project meetings to share ideas and enhance product offerings. Your role will also involve close communication with external entities to ensure project satisfaction and clarity in client needs. You will be the primary point of contact for clients, facilitating discussions regarding development needs with third parties as necessary. This position requires a proactive approach to managing multiple concurrent projects while adhering to organizational processes and tracking project metrics effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Perform software development of a variety of projects ranging from industry-wide services to client-specific reports and other interfacing technologies.
  • Create development code for product modules such as Payroll, Talent Acquisition, Time Management, Human Resources, Talent Management, and Reports.
  • Develop standard code for the Human Capital Management (HCM) industry.
  • Create customized development code and reports for clients as needed, including EDI.
  • Make adjustments to code after testing to ensure it addresses testing concerns.
  • Partner with technology professionals such as developers, quality assurance, and application support on software projects of all sizes.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance product offerings by sharing ideas.
  • Work with quality assurance to ensure code and data accuracy.
  • Assist Application Support in the deployment and support of projects as needed.
  • Communicate closely with outside entities (vendors and third parties).
  • Utilize project management software, issue tracking, and source control solutions to track communication about development specs, development, testing, and fixes.
  • Participate in team and project meetings to collaborate on concepts and designs.
  • Collaborate with non-technical professionals such as customer support, clients, and vendors on software projects.
  • Clarify specifications with product managers as needed.
  • Gather feedback on client needs and suggestions from customer support.
  • Clarify and test report and EDI data with clients.
  • Adhere to organizational processes and track project metrics and statuses.
  • Utilize Jira to track time usage on projects and meetings.
  • Evaluate stages in projects with application support and quality assurance.
  • Participate in daily standup meetings and track communications with clients/vendors.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems, engineering, or a related degree; similar education combinations may be considered.
  • Business fluency in German and English is required.
  • Experience in object-oriented programming, business intelligence tools, or mobile application development is preferred.
  • Demonstrated SQL programming and/or database experience with the ability to integrate multiple databases is preferred.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills with attention to detail and process.
  • Experience with project management tools and methodologies, software development lifecycle, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and meet customer-initiated deadlines.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with PHP, MySQL, SQL Server, C#, JavaScript, React, REST/SOAP APIs.
  • Familiarity with container technologies.
