About the position

FM Global is a leading property insurer for the world's largest businesses, providing more than one-third of FORTUNE 1000-size companies with engineering-based risk management and property insurance solutions. We help clients maintain continuity in their business operations by leveraging state-of-the-art loss-prevention engineering and research, risk management skills, and tailored risk transfer capabilities. Our dynamic and culturally diverse workforce operates in over 100 countries, tackling a variety of challenging roles. We are currently seeking multiple Software Engineering Co-Ops for the Spring 2025 term, starting in January 2025. This full-time position will last for six months and requires a commitment of 37.5 hours per week, from 9 AM to 5 PM EST, Monday through Friday. As a co-op, you will gain firsthand experience in software development, working on real-world problems and solutions alongside a talented team of developers. Your responsibilities will include developing or modifying business applications, integrating applications and databases, enhancing software delivery processes, and automating software testing. This role is an excellent opportunity for motivated students to apply their classroom knowledge in a professional setting while earning college credits and compensation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop or modify business applications to meet client needs.
  • Integrate business applications and databases for improved functionality.
  • Augment rapid software delivery and deployment processes.
  • Automate software testing processes to enhance efficiency.
  • Collaborate with a team of developers on various projects.

Requirements

  • Must be a current student pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Ability to work full-time (37.5 hours per week) for 6 months starting January 2025.
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Java, C#, or Python.
  • Familiarity with software development methodologies and tools.
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with database management systems such as SQL Server or Oracle.
  • Knowledge of cloud computing platforms like AWS or Azure.
  • Familiarity with Agile development practices.
