About the position

As a Director of Software Development in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, you will lead engineering teams to deliver cloud services tailored for the animation, film, and game development industries. This role involves building a competitive offering from the ground up, focusing on services such as virtual animation workstations, digital asset management, and high-performance storage. You will collaborate with executive leadership to drive technical innovation and operational excellence, mentoring managers and engineers while overseeing multiple engineering teams.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit and hire engineering staff capable of delivering cloud services in a DevOps model.
  • Direct, lead and coach engineering teams to deliver and operate cloud services for animation, film, and game development studios.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry best practices, ensuring compliance and driving innovation.
  • Launch new cloud services and establish operational excellence.
  • Set and drive the technical direction for the engineering organization.
  • Build high-performing geographically distributed engineering teams.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop top talent within the organization.
  • Establish software development standards and processes along with best practices.
  • Develop strategic plans to accomplish technical and business objectives with leadership, teams, and customers.
  • Define OKRs and KPIs to inform decision-making and prioritization.
  • Set goals and expectations for team and individual performance.

Requirements

  • Large/enterprise scale software development and engineering team management experience, including management of managers and multiple engineering teams.
  • Domain knowledge and experience with workflows and pipelines for media production, including digital asset management and familiarity with 3D frameworks.
  • Experience leading teams in the development of cloud services.
  • Direct experience at a media studio is highly desired.
  • Experience working with and managing geo-distributed teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with universal scene description, scene graphs, layers and models, 3D data packaging, rendering workflows, and image composition tools used by artists, engineers, editors, and content creators.
