About the position

The Software Development Engineer for Alexa Audio Playback Experience will play a crucial role in transforming how customers enjoy audio content through Alexa. This position involves independent technical ownership of new customer features and supporting architecture, focusing on enhancing the customer experience with innovative media services. The engineer will collaborate with product management and design teams to refine Alexa's entertainment offerings, utilizing cutting-edge technologies to build scalable API platforms and voice control interfaces.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and deliver software in complex problem spaces related to Alexa Audio, collaborating with product managers and engineers.
  • Improve consistency and integration between APEX software and partner team services.
  • Champion best practices for software engineering and operational excellence, addressing risks and improving availability for Alexa Audio Services.
  • Influence technical architecture for long-term changes in key program features.
  • Provide design feedback on latency considerations and coding standards to internal and external teams.
  • Mentor junior team members and participate in hiring efforts, sharing knowledge through various mediums.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
  • 2+ years of design or architecture experience of new and existing systems.
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language.

Nice-to-haves

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards and operations experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
