About the position

The Software Development Engineer position at Amazon Managed Grafana involves building and enhancing a fully managed secure data visualization service. The role focuses on developing open-source monitoring and observability solutions, enabling customers to visualize and analyze operational metrics, logs, and traces from various sources. The position requires tackling scalability and performance challenges while contributing to a collaborative team environment that values innovation and customer-centric design.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and test new product features using Go, Kotlin, TypeScript, and AWS services.
  • Operate and maintain a globally available 24x7 service for monitoring system health.
  • Contribute to open source software projects in the observability space, such as Grafana and Prometheus.
  • Solve immediate operational problems for customers and influence the product roadmap.
  • Collaborate with team members to improve software best practices, including security and quality.
  • Participate in hiring and mentoring new team members.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
  • 2+ years of design or architecture experience of new and existing systems.
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ownership of challenges.
  • Ability to collaborate across multiple teams to design and build high-quality code.
  • Proficient in computer science concepts such as object-oriented design and data structures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
  • Experience with Go, TypeScript, or Kotlin programming languages.
  • Experience designing and building large-scale systems in a distributed environment.
  • Familiarity with Elastic Container Service and AWS services.
  • Experience as a contributor or maintainer of a popular open-source project.
  • Experience with Grafana and Prometheus.
