About the position

Amazon Robotics is looking for a skilled Software Development Engineer to join the Movement Sciences & Schedule team. This role involves architecting, designing, developing, and testing technologies that control and optimize robotic fulfillment systems. The engineer will work on scalable robotic systems that ensure timely package delivery for Amazon's retail customers, collaborating with various teams to create innovative automation solutions for the robotic fleet.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, design, and implement distributed systems applications and infrastructure in support of robotic movement.
  • Influence the team's strategy and contribute to long-term vision and roadmap.
  • Work with stakeholders across solutions architecture and operations teams to iterate on design and implementation.
  • Maintain high standards by participating in reviews, designing for fault tolerance and operational excellence, and creating mechanisms for continuous improvement.
  • Prototype and test concepts or features, both through simulation and emulators and with live robotic equipment.
  • Work directly with customers and partners to test prototypes and incorporate feedback.
  • Mentor other engineer team members.
  • Utilize software engineering processes and technologies.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language
  • Strong background or familiarity with algorithms used to solve complex problems for highly-scalable systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
