About the position

The Robotic Manipulation organization at Amazon Robotics is seeking experienced software engineers to design, build, and implement high-performance robotic systems that can intelligently interact with humans. This role involves working on the core infrastructure and tools that support robotic applications, enabling collaboration among roboticists, machine learning scientists, and software engineers. The team is focused on advancing robotic manipulation capabilities and has successfully scaled its solutions to improve service amidst operational challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, design, and implement robotic software applications, infrastructure, and tools.
  • Work with stakeholders across hardware, science, and operations teams to iterate on systems design and implementation.
  • Create robust, high-quality, well-tested software to interface with and control sensors, actuators, and other hardware.
  • Collaborate with machine learning and robotic controls experts to implement and deploy algorithms, such as machine learning models.
  • Profile, tune, and optimize system performance.
  • Create reusable software and systems to accelerate robotics development.
  • Maintain high standards by participating in reviews, designing for fault tolerance and operational excellence, and creating mechanisms for continuous improvement.
  • Mentor junior team members.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience (design patterns, reliability, and scaling)
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language
  • Solid computer science fundamentals.

Nice-to-haves

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
