About the position

Amazon Robotics is looking for a skilled Software Development Engineer to join the Control team, responsible for architecting, designing, developing, and testing technologies that optimize robotic fulfillment systems. This role involves collaborating with a diverse team to create scalable robotic systems that ensure timely package delivery for Amazon's retail customers.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, design, and implement distributed systems applications and infrastructure for robotic movement.
  • Influence the team's strategy and contribute to long-term vision and roadmap.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across solutions architecture and operations teams to iterate on design and implementation.
  • Participate in reviews, design for fault tolerance and operational excellence, and create mechanisms for continuous improvement.
  • Prototype and test concepts or features through simulation and with live robotic equipment.
  • Work directly with customers and partners to test prototypes and incorporate feedback.
  • Mentor other engineering team members.
  • Utilize software engineering processes and technologies.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
  • 3+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience with design patterns, reliability, and scaling of new and existing systems.
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.

Nice-to-haves

  • 5+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
  • Master's degree in computer science or equivalent.
