About the position

The Software Development Engineer (SDE) role in the Analytics & Data Management (ADM) team at Amazon focuses on building highly available, scalable, and distributed engineering systems for one of the largest data lakes in the company. The position involves designing and innovating solutions to handle petabyte-scale data, enabling various stakeholders to perform complex queries for analysis and reporting. The SDE will work with cutting-edge technologies and contribute to the growth and efficiency of the data lake, impacting decision-making processes across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Engage with key decision makers such as Product & Program Managers to understand customer requirements and brainstorm on solutions
• Design, code and deploy components and micro-services for the core job management pipeline
• Ensure testability, maintainability and low operational footprint for your code
• Participate in operational responsibilities with your team
• Innovate on AWS technology to improve latency, reduce cost and operations
• Automate monitoring of data availability, quality and usability via simplified metrics
• Build frugal solutions to optimize the data lake's cost efficiency

Requirements

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience of new and existing systems
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Nice-to-haves

• 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
