About the position

The Software Development Engineer position at Amazon Web Services (AWS) focuses on building scalable digital security systems that are integral to AWS services. The role involves developing secure solutions, communicating with customers, and owning the technology stack for one of the most secure services in AWS. The engineer will work in a collaborative environment to innovate and automate processes, contributing to the mission of transforming complex interactions into seamless experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Building a scalable digital security system that is core to all AWS services.
  • Working as part of a team to develop secure solutions for customers.
  • Communicating with influential customers to explain technology and understand requirements.
  • Owning the technology stack for one of the most secure and reliable services in AWS.
  • Defining best practices for the software development lifecycle including design, implementation, testing, and operational characteristics.
  • Deploying and operating AWS Private CA, a public AWS service with globally distributed customers and infrastructure.
  • Automating and improving a scalable digital security service that is core to AWS customers and other AWS services.
  • Driving prioritization of deployment and operational issues in the technology stack.
  • Owning operational metrics and support for the team's software.
  • Reinforcing and extending Amazon Leadership Principles across AWS.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience of new and existing systems.
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language.

Nice-to-haves

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
