About the position

The Software Development Engineer II position at AWS Security Token Service involves designing, implementing, and maintaining innovative software solutions that enhance service performance, durability, cost, and security. The role focuses on solving complex technical problems and delivering high-quality products that meet customer needs in a fast-paced environment. Engineers will collaborate across teams to drive efficiencies in software architecture and contribute to the development of one of the largest software systems used by AWS customers.

Responsibilities

• Solve challenging technical problems at every layer of the stack.
• Design, implement, test, deploy, and maintain innovative software solutions.
• Build high-quality, highly available, always-on products.
• Research implementations that deliver the best possible experiences for customers.
• Create metrics, implement automation, and resolve the root cause of software defects.
• Participate in design discussions and code reviews.
• Work cross-functionally to drive business decisions with technical input.

Requirements

• 4+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 3+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience of new and existing systems.
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language.

Nice-to-haves

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
• 4+ years of full software development life cycle experience.
• 3+ years of working with large distributed systems.
• Understanding of web services technologies such as SOAP, HTTP, WSDL, XSD, and REST.
• Understanding of Federated Authentication, SAML, OAuth, OpenId, Multi Factor Authentication.
• Experience with mission critical, 24x7 systems.
• Excellent communication and sharp analytical abilities.
