About the position

The Software Development Engineer II position at AWS Utility Computing (UC) involves developing and maintaining complex software solutions that enhance service performance and security for a global customer base. The role focuses on designing fault-tolerant systems, solving challenging technical problems, and contributing to the evolution of identity federation protocols in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Solve challenging technical problems at every layer of the stack.
  • Design, implement, test, deploy, and maintain innovative software solutions.
  • Build high-quality, highly available, always-on products.
  • Research implementations that deliver the best possible experiences for customers.
  • Create metrics, implement automation, and resolve software defects.
  • Participate in design discussions and code reviews.
  • Work cross-functionally to drive business decisions with technical input.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
  • 3+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience of new and existing systems.
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
  • 4+ years of full software development life cycle experience.
  • 3+ years of working with large distributed systems.
  • Understanding of web services technologies such as SOAP, WSDL, XSD, and REST.
  • Understanding of Federated Authentication, SAML, OAuth, OpenId, Multi-Factor Authentication.
  • Experience with mission-critical, 24x7 systems.
  • Excellent communication and sharp analytical abilities.
