About the position
Amazon Web Services is seeking an experienced Engineering Leader to join the newly formed EC2 Networking team. This leadership role involves guiding a team in developing forwarding and encapsulation services for EC2, aimed at enhancing large-scale networking and new features within AWS Virtual Private Cloud (VPC). The position requires expertise in kernel and embedded C programming to achieve ultra-high performance, processing millions of packets per second on Embedded CPU cores. The role emphasizes hands-on engineering, mentoring junior engineers, and maintaining technical knowledge in a rapidly evolving technology landscape.
Responsibilities
- Mentor junior engineers and ensure adherence to development practices.
- Lead architecture decisions and participate in design and code reviews.
- Manage day-to-day development activities with the engineering team.
- Maintain current technical knowledge and explore new technologies.
- Communicate with users and technical teams to gather requirements and describe software features.
Requirements
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
- 2+ years of design or architecture experience of new and existing systems.
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
Nice-to-haves
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards and testing.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
