About the position

The EC2 Capacity Data Intelligence and Platform Team (CDIP) is seeking an experienced Software Development Engineer to enhance the EC2 (Elastic Cloud Compute) services within Amazon Web Services (AWS). This role focuses on developing, maintaining, and optimizing a data platform that supports optimal capacity availability for customers globally. The engineer will work with large-scale datasets, employing modern distributed systems and big data tools to facilitate data-driven decision-making processes. The position involves collaboration with engineers, data scientists, and business leaders to ensure the platform's reliability and security, while also engaging in real-time data processing and automation of workflows.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and optimize the data platform for EC2.
• Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, and business leaders to ensure platform availability and reliability.
• Engage with real-time streaming data to construct alert systems.
• Construct a dynamic rules engine to automate workflows and decision-making processes.
• Package data into APIs for enhanced software interaction.
• Contribute to the development of self-service, data-intelligent systems.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional software development experience.
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language (Java, Python, or Scala).
• 3+ years of experience with big data technologies such as AWS, Hadoop, Spark, Pig, Hive, Lucene/SOLR, or Storm/Samza.
• 2+ years of experience in design or architecture of new and existing systems.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with BI development tooling, such as DBT/Airflow.
• Strong programming skills in Java, Python, or Scala.
• Willingness to learn and apply new tools.
