About the position

The Software Development Engineer position within the EC2 Load Balancing team focuses on building and enhancing the Metering, Analytics, and Reporting Services (MARS) for AWS Elastic Load Balancing (ELB). The role involves architecting a unified metrics system to support data-driven decisions, ensuring accuracy in billing and usage data, and developing scalable solutions to handle large volumes of data. This position offers the opportunity to work on innovative features and services that are critical to the performance and reliability of AWS's cloud offerings.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement a unified metrics system for ELB products.
  • Collect, aggregate, and enrich ELB usage data for metering and analytics.
  • Ensure accuracy in billing and audits of ELB services.
  • Develop scalable solutions capable of handling terabytes of data per day.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance ELB features and services.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in design or architecture of systems.
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language.

Nice-to-haves

  • 3+ years of experience in the full software development life cycle.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
  • Experience with load balancing technologies like NGINX and HTTProxy.
  • Experience building scalable, fault-tolerant infrastructure software.
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering practices.
  • Experience mentoring junior software engineers.
