IMDb is the world's most popular and authoritative source for movie, TV, and celebrity content, boasting an audience of over 250 million unique monthly visitors across web and mobile apps, and more than 100 million downloads of its Android app on Google Play. As a Software Development Engineer II, you will join a dynamic team that values rapid execution and decision-making akin to startups, but with the robust backing and resources of Amazon. This role offers the unique opportunity to leverage Amazon technologies to create exceptional products that are utilized by fans and industry professionals globally. In this position, you will be a key player in the Mobile Apps Team, focusing on building engaging and personalized user experiences within our highly popular Android applications, including IMDb Movies & TV and IMDbPro. The culture at IMDb promotes ambitious yet achievable product development, characterized by short iterations and extensive experimentation. We celebrate both team and individual milestones, fostering a balanced lifestyle that enhances productivity and refreshment. A shared passion for entertainment is at the core of our team, with regular discussions about current films, shows, and events with our founder and colleagues. Your responsibilities will include developing new features for IMDb in collaboration with your engineering team, product managers, and UX designers. You will take ownership of customer-facing features throughout their entire lifecycle, from design and implementation to testing, deployment, and production. Comfort in delving into various areas such as video playback, advertising, and native app components is essential, as is the ability to work with our API layer to define the next iteration of our schema that powers our applications. Maintaining a high quality bar for both our code and customer experience is paramount, as is optimizing Android apps for performance, reliability, and security. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to the technical designs and implementations of backend services and APIs that support mobile app functionalities.
