About the position

As a Software Engineer in the NoSQL and in-memory database team at AWS, you will be responsible for developing large-scale, distributed in-memory databases optimized for sub-millisecond latency. This role involves leveraging open-source technologies and Amazon proprietary technologies to create reliable, scalable, and high-performance services. You will also mentor other engineers and contribute significantly to the product's development, ensuring quality and operational success.

Responsibilities

• Develop large-scale, distributed in-memory databases with sub-millisecond latency.
• Leverage open-source technologies like Redis and Memcached, along with Amazon proprietary technologies.
• Implement low-level optimizations and asynchronous messaging for high throughput development.
• Create a real-time failure detection system and ensure high availability and fault tolerance.
• Participate in design discussions, code reviews, and communicate with stakeholders.
• Build high-quality, highly available, always-on products that meet customer needs.
• Research and implement solutions that enhance service performance, durability, cost, and security.
• Mentor junior engineers and support their development in engineering expertise.

Requirements

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 5+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language.
• 5+ years of experience leading design or architecture of new and existing systems.
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team.

Nice-to-haves

• 5+ years of experience in the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, and testing.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
