About the position

The Core I/O Quality Engineering team at Apple is responsible for validating the functionality and stability of firmware device drivers and frameworks for high-speed I/O interfaces such as USB, Thunderbolt™, PCIe, and DisplayPort. This role involves leading quality assurance efforts in a fast-paced environment, requiring excellent communication, multi-tasking, and deep technical skills. The ideal candidate will design and develop automated tests, contribute to test frameworks, and work closely with engineering teams to ensure high-quality releases.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and own automated tests for new and existing technologies.
  • Contribute to the development of test frameworks and tools for large-scale testing on shipping and in-development Apple systems.
  • Investigate and analyze issues across hardware and software interaction layers.
  • Collaborate with engineering and project management teams to ensure quality releases.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience/skills.
  • Solid understanding of OS and Embedded Systems fundamentals.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python and Shell Scripting.
  • Familiarity with C programming.

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong problem-solving skills and excellent cross-functional communication.
  • Proven ability to quickly ramp up on new and existing technologies.
  • Experience in developing, testing, or debugging device drivers, firmware, or other low-level software.
  • Experience working with I/O technologies (USB, PCIe, Display technologies, etc.).
  • Experience using Protocol Analyzers and Oscilloscopes.
