About the position

The Amazon Search team is seeking a strong software engineer to join the Search Relevance team, which focuses on enhancing the search experience for Amazon customers worldwide. This role involves designing, developing, and deploying machine learning infrastructure for search ranking at scale, optimizing deep learned models, and collaborating with various teams to implement impactful projects. The position emphasizes leadership, customer focus, and tackling complex problems in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and deploy machine learning infrastructure for search ranking at Amazon scale.
• Optimize deep learned models on multi-node GPUs for training.
• Collaborate with systems engineers, machine learning scientists, and data analysts to discuss and solve problems.
• Take ownership of projects by understanding the needs of various search teams and implementing coherent solutions.
• Mentor team members and set a high bar for project delivery.
• Identify and tackle challenging problems with enthusiasm.
• Work backwards from customer problems to find elegant solutions.

Requirements

• 4+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of experience in design or architecture of new and existing systems
• Experience building complex software systems delivered to customers
• Proficiency in at least one programming language
• Experience in machine learning, data mining, information retrieval, statistics, or natural language processing

Nice-to-haves

• 5+ years of full software development life cycle experience
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
• Experience in building large-scale machine learning infrastructure for online recommendation, ad ranking, personalization, or search
