About the position

As a Software Development Engineer in Amazon S3, you will be responsible for building the next generation of S3 services, which are crucial for managing trillions of objects and ensuring high durability and availability. You will work on designing, implementing, and improving the S3 API experience, processing millions of requests per second, and driving innovation to handle exponential growth. This role emphasizes ownership, high-quality software delivery, and collaboration within a team of talented engineers.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and improve the S3 API experience.
• Lead peer engineers to deliver high-quality and scalable software.
• Drive innovation to build next-generation software for S3 services.
• Code systems and services that allow rapid development to meet fast-paced challenges.
• Participate in on-call rotation to support S3's high availability requirements.
• Mentor junior engineers and support knowledge sharing within the team.

Requirements

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 5+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language.
• 5+ years of experience leading design or architecture of new and existing systems.
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team.

Nice-to-haves

• 5+ years of experience in the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, and testing.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
