About the position

As a Software Development Engineer in Amazon S3, you will be responsible for building the next generation of S3 services, which are crucial for managing trillions of objects and delivering high-quality, scalable software solutions. You will work on the S3 API experience, processing millions of requests per second and ensuring the durability and availability of the service. This role emphasizes ownership, innovation, and collaboration within a team of talented engineers, focusing on solving complex customer problems and driving change across a vast customer base.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, operate, and improve the S3 API experience.
• Lead peer engineers to deliver high-quality and scalable software.
• Drive innovation to build software that handles exponential growth.
• Code systems and services that allow rapid development to meet fast-paced challenges.
• Participate in regular on-call rotations to support the S3 service.

Requirements

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 5+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language.
• 5+ years of experience leading design or architecture of new and existing systems.
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team.

Nice-to-haves

• 5+ years of experience in the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
