About the position

The Software Development Engineer position at Northrop Grumman involves working on the development, integration, deployment, and sustainment of satellite ground software within the Tactical Space Systems Division. This role requires a Top Secret/SCI clearance and focuses on full stack development, troubleshooting software and hardware issues, and supporting ground software during launch events. The position is onsite in Dulles, Virginia, and emphasizes a commitment to innovation and problem-solving in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Full stack development at the OS, platform, and mission unique software layer
  • Developing client and server applications and services using service or object-oriented architectures
  • Implementing message bus-based data exchange that includes first-of-a-kind capabilities
  • Supporting operations ground software and associated configurations
  • Troubleshooting software errors and hardware affecting the operation of ground software
  • Supporting acceptance test events, including running tests
  • Test automation and configuration of ground segment software
  • Resolving and remediating software defects
  • Implementing software enhancements as directed by customer change requests or mission needs
  • Providing ground software support during launch and launch rehearsal events
  • Supporting the installation of new ground segment software in operational, development, and test environments

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree with 2 years of experience (or a Masters, or a PhD)
  • Demonstrated software development experience
  • Experience in Python application development, C++, and Bash scripting
  • Demonstrated experience in technical problem solving, including decomposition, root cause analysis, solution development, implementation, and monitoring
  • Existing DoD Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility at time of application
  • Commitment to working on-site, inside restricted office spaces

Nice-to-haves

  • Linux Operating System experience
  • Experience with Ansible/Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies
