About the position

The Software Development Engineer in the Workforce Solutions Analytics and Technology (WSAT) team at Amazon is responsible for designing and building scalable, resilient systems that enhance the Talent Acquisition process through automation and innovative technology. This role involves working in a start-up-like environment, focusing on creating customer-facing products and improving existing technology to deliver exceptional user experiences. The engineer will mentor junior team members and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality software development practices are followed.

Responsibilities

  • Build a customer-facing product across the whole software development life cycle from ground-up in an entrepreneurial, start-up like environment.
  • Design and build distributed systems, including front-end applications and backend services that can scale to millions of requests.
  • Provide thought leadership on engineering best practices.
  • Mentor team members and support their professional growth.
  • Have cross-team impact at Amazon-scale.
  • Build software that scales effortlessly, has low latency, is robust and extensible.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including UI/UX designers, machine learning scientists, product managers, and other software engineers.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience of new and existing systems.
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language.

Nice-to-haves

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
