Kratos is looking for a mid to senior level Software Development Engineer Manager. The position will support dynamic, agile projects implementing a SecDevOps approach across all phases of the software development lifecycle, to include design, development, test, and operational support/user feedback. The ideal candidate must be able to work independently as well as within a team setting on the design, implementation, and maintenance/troubleshooting of new and existing software solutions, primarily within the satellite command and control (C2) domain space. Knowledge of Container and Cloud implementations is a plus. Kratos provides leading-edge capabilities for communication with satellites. Responsibilities

  • Effectively communicate with various team members, customers, and vendor support.
  • Leverage modern industry standard technologies in engineered solutions and generate estimates and status of design efforts.
  • Support more than one project at a time, addressing critical issues and guiding them to effective resolution.
  • Work with a cross-functional engineering team.
  • Travel as necessary to support system integration, testing, and customer meetings.
  • Be a strong team player and leader to the project team and organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in a technical discipline (Computer Science, Software, Electrical, Mechanical, or related degree).
  • At least 10 years of relevant work experience.
  • Proficiency in Java and C/C++ programming on Linux platforms.
  • Experience in addressing software race conditions and batch file, Python scripting.
  • Solid understanding of relational database applications and creation of expressions.
  • Proven Docker/Container & Kubernetes design and implementation knowledge and experience.
  • Ability to design software solutions to complex engineering problems and accurately estimate the effort to accomplish them.
  • Proven ability to lead teams in software development and mentor/coach newer software engineers.
  • Experience in defining and developing requirements with customers and developing the test methodology to verify them.
  • Experience using Atlassian tools and working in an Agile software development environment.
  • CI/CD Pipeline experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience and/or knowledge of OpenShift, Kafka, AWS, Azure implementations.
  • Basic knowledge of satellite operations, signal processing, digital communications theory, network communications, Oracle database experience.
  • Unix Shell Scripting and Structured Query Language (SQL) knowledge.
  • Lead Software Architecture Design experience.
  • RHEL 7.x & 8.x experience.
