About the position

The Software Development Engineer Manager at Kratos Defense & Security Solutions is responsible for leading dynamic, agile projects that implement a SecDevOps approach throughout the software development lifecycle. This role involves design, development, testing, and operational support of software solutions, particularly in the satellite command and control domain. The ideal candidate will work both independently and collaboratively, leveraging modern technologies to address complex engineering challenges and guide project teams effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate effectively with team members, customers, and vendor support.
  • Leverage modern industry standard technologies to generate estimates and status of design efforts.
  • Support multiple projects simultaneously, addressing critical issues and guiding teams to effective resolutions.
  • Work with a cross-functional engineering team.
  • Travel as necessary to support system integration, testing, and customer meetings.
  • Lead and be a strong team player within the project team and organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in a technical discipline (Computer Science, Software, Electrical, Mechanical, or related degree).
  • At least 10 years of relevant work experience.
  • Proficiency in Java and C/C++ programming on Linux platforms.
  • Active Secret Security Clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI.
  • Experience with C++ backend implementations and driver development.
  • Knowledge of software race conditions and batch file/Python scripting.
  • Solid understanding of relational database applications.
  • Proven experience with Docker/Container & Kubernetes design and implementation.
  • Ability to design software solutions for complex engineering problems and accurately estimate effort.
  • Experience leading software development teams and mentoring newer engineers.
  • Experience defining and developing requirements with customers and developing test methodologies.
  • Ability to work in an unstructured environment and deliver high-quality results.
  • Experience using Atlassian tools in an Agile software development environment.
  • CI/CD Pipeline experience.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work in fast-paced environments.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with OpenShift, Kafka, AWS, Azure implementations.
  • Basic knowledge of satellite operations and digital communications theory.
  • Oracle database experience.
  • Unix Shell Scripting knowledge.
  • Structured Query Language (SQL) proficiency.
  • Lead Software Architecture Design experience.
  • Experience with RHEL 7.x & 8.x.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary based on experience and education.
  • Salary Range: $150,000-$180,000.
