About the position

The Software Development Manager for AWS Hardware Engineering Services at Amazon Data Services, Inc. is responsible for leading a team that designs, develops, and operates software and services for AWS hardware infrastructure. This role involves managing a diverse team of software developers to create innovative solutions for real-world infrastructure challenges, ensuring high-quality standards in hardware performance monitoring and automated systems. The position requires a hands-on leader who can drive new feature development from concept to launch while collaborating with various teams across AWS to enhance cloud services.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of software developers in building and operating services and tools for AWS hardware infrastructure.
  • Drive the development of server performance monitoring services and automated firmware deployment systems.
  • Establish strategic vision and execute the delivery of new products and services.
  • Collaborate with product and program management teams to define and develop multi-tier web services.
  • Mentor and coach team members to improve their skills and effectiveness as software engineers.
  • Manage the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards and testing processes.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience.
  • 7+ years of experience working directly within engineering teams.
  • 3+ years of experience designing or architecting systems with a focus on reliability and scaling.
  • 8+ years of experience leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services.
  • Knowledge of engineering practices for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with cloud development and AWS services.
