About the position

The Software Development Manager role at Amazon Foundational Security Services (AFSS) involves leading a high-performing team responsible for developing and operating internal security services that support various Amazon businesses. The position emphasizes building scalable and available systems, enhancing user experience in security, and fostering a culture of learning and innovation within a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Build and manage a high-performing software development team.
• Oversee software architecture, development, operations, and strategic direction.
• Design new security features in collaboration with users.
• Prototype and demonstrate features to users.
• Deploy software through automated systems and support newly deployed software operationally.
• Automate fixes for operational issues and integrate applications with AWS services.

Requirements

• 3+ years of engineering team management experience.
• 7+ years of engineering experience.
• 8+ years of experience leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services.
• Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle.
• Experience partnering with product or program management teams.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in communicating with users and technical teams to collect requirements and describe software product features.
• Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring, and managing teams of Software Engineers.
