About the position

The Software Development Manager for Data Engineering at Autodesk will lead a team focused on building data pipelines to support artificial intelligence and machine learning initiatives within the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry. This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders to enhance Autodesk's applications with cloud-native capabilities and ensuring the security and privacy of customer data. The manager will foster an inclusive culture, mentor team members, and drive innovation in software development practices.

Responsibilities

  • Work with your team to help understand requirements, evaluate new features, and help build technology roadmaps.
  • Build a new team by recruiting talent from diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
  • Build partnerships with technical leads and important individuals within other functional organizations, to implement compelling solutions.
  • Build an inclusive culture, mentor team members, and provide your team with the tools to reach their goals.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and excellence in software development.
  • Address organizational and process challenges, applying technical expertise to bridge gaps, streamline operations, and facilitate smooth execution of partnership initiatives.
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest AI and Data Engineering trends and apply this expertise to improve team performance and product quality.
  • Create tactical execution plans and ensure adherence to budgets, schedules, and performance expectations.
  • Implement the strategy following principles of Agile methodology.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • 10+ years of software development experience.
  • 5+ years of experience as a manager.
  • Experience managing and resolving complex and ambiguous issues.
  • Experience developing scalable and resilient data ingestion and processing pipelines, monitoring and self-healing systems.
  • Experience delivering production applications with Amazon Web Services.
  • Experience working with Data Lake or Warehouses, ETLs.
  • Experience with modern software practices including Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery, and Infrastructure-as-Code.
  • Experience with Scrum and Agile development processes and methodologies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with AWS IAM to develop secure solutions, specifically with resource access policies and IAM roles.
  • Familiarity with AWS infrastructure as code solutions, such as CDK or Cloud Formation.
  • Experience in the AEC industry, Autodesk products such as Revit, and AEC data schemas and standards.
  • Experience with cloud-native capabilities, including data at scale, edge computing, and AI-based solutions.
