About the position

The Software Development Manager for Kuiper Secure Communications will lead a team responsible for the development of embedded software for Project Kuiper's satellite constellation. This role involves managing engineering teams, overseeing resource allocation, and driving the multi-year vision for the team to ensure the successful delivery of high-speed broadband connectivity solutions to underserved communities.

Responsibilities

• Manage a team responsible for Secure Communications of Kuiper satellites.
• Hire and support top talent to meet team goals.
• Define and drive the multi-year vision for the team.
• Oversee resource allocation to meet business and staff development goals.
• Participate in strategic planning to achieve technical and business objectives.
• Work closely with engineers to architect and deliver optimal technical designs and approaches.

Requirements

• 3+ years of engineering team management experience.
• 7+ years of experience working directly within engineering teams.
• 3+ years of experience designing or architecting new and existing systems.
• 8+ years of experience leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services.
• Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring, and managing teams of Software Engineers.
• Experience in communicating with users and senior leadership to collect requirements and describe software product features.
