About the position

The Software Development Manager for Satellite Embedded Systems at Amazon's Project Kuiper will lead a team responsible for developing embedded software for Kuiper satellites. This role focuses on ensuring the reliability, safety, and security of systems software across various compute systems on the satellites, contributing to the mission of providing high-speed broadband connectivity to underserved communities worldwide.

Responsibilities

• Manage a team responsible for embedded software for the Flight Software team of Kuiper satellites.
• Hire and support top talent to meet team goals.
• Define and drive the multi-year vision for the team.
• Oversee resource allocation to meet business and staff development goals.
• Participate in strategic planning to achieve technical and business goals.
• Work closely with engineers to architect and deliver optimal technical designs and approaches.

Requirements

• 3+ years of engineering team management experience.
• 7+ years of experience working directly within engineering teams.
• 3+ years of experience designing or architecting new and existing systems.
• 8+ years of experience leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services.
• Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring, and managing teams of Software Engineers.
• Experience in communicating with users and senior leadership to collect requirements and describe software product features.
