About the position

The Software Development Test Engineer for Electrical IoT Devices at Schneider Electric is responsible for writing detailed test plans and cases, executing these plans, and capturing results. The role involves developing and automating tests for embedded Linux applications, ensuring thorough user testing, and analyzing performance metrics. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hardware engineering and firmware development, with a focus on collaborative projects and troubleshooting multi-component setups.

Responsibilities

  • Write detailed test plans and test cases.
  • Execute test plans and capture results.
  • Develop and automate tests for embedded Linux applications using Shell scripts and Python.
  • Conduct front-end user testing to ensure application lifecycle understanding.
  • Measure and analyze CPU usage, memory usage, and non-volatile storage usage.

Requirements

  • Degree in Hardware Engineering, Applied Engineering, or a related field with a firmware background.
  • Proven experience working on collaborative projects in a team environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for multi-component setups.
  • Experience in medium-scale DVT development and execution.
  • Proficient in writing and debugging Shell scripts.
  • Expertise in troubleshooting multi-component setups.
  • Experience in developing and testing embedded Linux applications.
  • Proficient in Python for test automation and scripting, including libraries and frameworks like Flask, ZMQ, and sockets.
  • Understanding of how to measure and interpret performance metrics.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with the Rust programming language.
  • Experience in research and development environments.
