About the position

The Messages team on watchOS at Apple is seeking a creative and energetic software engineer to develop innovative features that enhance communication on the Apple Watch. This role involves collaborating with designers and other teams to create high-quality software experiences that are both user-friendly and efficient, while also ensuring the software runs optimally on low-powered devices.

Responsibilities

• Work with designers to turn ideas into meaningful prototypes and demo them to stakeholders.
• Write high quality, well-tested, and performant code to develop prototypes into polished experiences.
• Architect systems that are extensible, adaptable, and durable.
• Profile and optimize features to run well on low-powered devices.
• Collaborate with quality assurance teams to identify and fix bugs, edge cases, and performance issues.

Requirements

• Proficiency in Objective-C or Swift.
• Proven experience contributing to at least one application or framework.
• A consistent track record of delivering projects on time and within specifications.
• Familiarity with systems and hands-on experience with inter-process communication.
• Experience optimizing applications and profiling across the entire stack.
• Adaptability, results orientation, and a positive attitude.
• Excellent communication and collaborative skills.
• Attention to detail.

• Experience improving and expanding on existing complex projects and systems.
• Experience defining and driving large scale projects across different levels of the stack.
