About the position

ECS is seeking a qualified Software Engineer/Applications Programmer (Senior) to support transformative science and technology solutions for the Department of Energy. This role involves building .NET Framework Programs using various languages and technologies, with a focus on both front-end and back-end development. The position requires a commitment to collaborative problem solving and quality product development within a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze functional business applications and design specifications for functional areas such as finance, accounting, personnel, manpower, logistics, and contracts.
  • Develop block diagrams and logic flow charts.
  • Translate detailed design into computer software.
  • Test, debug, and refine the computer software to produce the required product.
  • Prepare required documentation, including both program-level and user-level documentation.
  • Enhance software to reduce operating time or improve efficiency.
  • Provide technical direction to programmers to ensure program deadlines are met.
  • Experience in information system design, including application programming on large-scale DBMS and the development of complex software to satisfy design objectives.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in software engineering, computer engineering, computer science, information technology, or a related field AND four years of practical experience in programming and coding OR Bachelor's Degree in software engineering, computer engineering, computer science, information technology, or a related field AND six years of practical experience in programming and coding OR Ten years of practical experience in programming and coding.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Top Secret or DOE Q clearance throughout the life of the contract.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must currently live in Morgantown, WV or willing to relocate.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice-to-haves

  • Active Top Secret or DOE Q Clearance with the ability to maintain clearance throughout the life of the contract.
  • Two or more years experience supporting US Government customers.
  • Project Management Professional certification.
  • Experience supporting complex government and programs of a research and development nature.
  • Experience with data storage, standards, and structuring of data.
  • Experience utilizing containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, podman).
  • Ability to automate data engineering processes within Linux environments including data wrangling and AI model development enablement.
  • Highly proficient in software and network security, back-up, and recovery specifications.
  • Highly skilled in managing servers access for multiple, simultaneous, external vendors, Government, academia, and industry.
  • Ability to coach/mentor junior technical resources.
