About the position

As an Embedded DSP Software Engineer on the Audio team at Meta's Reality Labs, you will play a crucial role in developing and optimizing real-time audio features for AR and VR applications. This position involves collaboration with research scientists and engineers to create innovative audio solutions that enhance user experiences and redefine auditory capabilities. The role emphasizes a culture of ownership, continuous learning, and adaptability in a fast-paced research environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, integrate, optimize and debug real-time AR and VR audio features on Android systems.
  • Build a community of researchers and developers by sharing software engineering best practices, tips and techniques.
  • Collaborate in a team environment across multiple scientific and engineering disciplines, making architectural trade-offs to rapidly deliver software solutions.
  • Write clean, readable code, debug complex problems that span systems, understand priorities, and fulfill project needs efficiently.
  • Learn constantly, build with inclusion as a core value, dive into new areas with unfamiliar technologies, and embrace the ambiguity of AR/VR problem solving.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of experience with development of audio software systems including signal processing and machine learning.
  • 5+ years of programming experience in C or C++.
  • Experience in embedded audio DSP development.
  • Experience developing, debugging, and shipping software products on large code bases that span platforms and tools.
  • Communication experience and demonstrated experience working across disciplines to drive optimal solutions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Deep understanding of audio pipelines and DSP for hardware devices.
  • Interest in prototyping and implementing low-level optimizations for embedded applications.
  • Experience with Max/MSP, MATLAB, Audioweaver, or similar platforms.
  • Successful track record driving and executing on research initiatives.
  • Previous experience working in the AR/VR space.
