Software Engineer, Beam Planning (Starlink)

About the position

As a Beam Planning Software Engineer at SpaceX, you will be responsible for developing software that enhances the performance of the Starlink satellite internet system. This role involves solving complex challenges to optimize network topology and improve user experience, particularly for underserved communities. You will engage in the full software lifecycle, from development to testing and support, ensuring that your work has a significant impact on global internet access.

Responsibilities

• Develop highly reliable, real-time software that plans and executes network topology for a satellite-based global network.
• Participate in and lead architecture, design, and code reviews.
• Develop prototypes and manage experiments to validate key design concepts.
• Create tools for software development, deployment, data analysis, and visualization across various environments.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, math, or science discipline; OR 2+ years of professional experience in software development.
• Development experience in assembly, C, or C++.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge in real-time rendering, game engine development, or physics simulation.
• Familiarity with network topology, numerical optimization techniques, or graph theoretic approaches.
• Experience developing, debugging, and deploying software for real-world applications.
• Strong problem-solving skills and analytical abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with distributed systems and internet services.
