About the position

The Software Engineer, Computer Vision - Encoders position at Meta involves leading the development and implementation of calibration models, algorithms, and software for advanced eye tracking technology. This role is crucial in enhancing AR and VR experiences by improving calibration accuracy and system performance through innovative solutions and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and implementation of calibration models, algorithms, and software for novel sensors, cameras, and illumination systems.
• Conduct experiments and data collection to validate calibration algorithms and improve system performance.
• Co-create roadmap and vision for R&D initiatives focused on hardware calibration and data capture.
• Drive cross-functional collaborations with partner teams including calibration, AR/VR hardware, and display calibration.
• Explore and leverage novel technologies to improve calibration accuracy and simplify data capture.
• Contribute to recruitment, mentoring, onboarding, and growth of the calibration cross-functional team.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Skilled in writing efficient and maintainable C++ code.
• Experience in camera, sensor, SLAM, or illuminator calibration, computer vision, image analysis, and model fitting.
• Experience mentoring and acting as a project technical lead.
• Experience with image data and software infrastructure.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a similar relevant discipline.
• Experience in robotics and automated trajectory optimization.
• Familiarity with on-device software systems.
• Experience in AR/VR.
