About the position
The Software Engineer, Core Events role at Stripe involves designing, building, and maintaining event-driven infrastructure systems that support the company's engineering teams. This position focuses on leveraging popular software tools to enhance Stripe's event infrastructure, enabling high-scale event-driven programming and facilitating asynchronous communication between services. The role is integral to supporting Stripe's growing scalability and reliability requirements while minimizing operational toil through automation.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain event-driven infrastructure systems using software such as Kafka, Flink, and Amazon SQS.
- Collaborate with various stakeholders at Stripe to understand their specific requirements and identify opportunities to better leverage the streaming infrastructure.
Requirements
- 2-6 years of professional hands-on software development experience.
- Experience designing, building, maintaining, and debugging distributed systems.
- Experience with scaling distributed systems in a rapidly moving environment.
- Experience building infrastructure as a product centered around users' needs.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with event-driven architecture.
- Experience working with open source technology such as Kafka, Amazon Kinesis, Flink, or Beam.
- Experience with orchestration platforms such as Cadence, Temporal, or AWS Step Functions.
