About the position

The Software Engineer, Data Conversion will play a crucial role in migrating UMD computing systems to a modern cloud-based solution, specifically focusing on transferring data from legacy systems to the Workday platform as part of the Workday Student implementation. This hands-on position requires collaboration within an agile development team, adhering to formal methodologies and timelines, and ensuring the continuity of university services during emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Implementing solutions within a development team.
• Following a formal development methodology and working within scheduled timelines.
• Participating in peer code reviews, documentation, and formal testing.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Two (2) years of professional experience supporting the operations, maintenance, and administration of information technology infrastructure.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to follow directions from more senior team members but also able to work independently.
• Basic mentorship to junior staff members.
• A demonstrated commitment to customer service.
• Ability to effectively manage workload and delivery assignments on time.
• Skilled in the use of office productivity software such as Office 365 or Google Workspaces.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with ETL platforms like Informatica/Fabric/Datastage.
• Experience with SQL and Python.
• Experience using AWS for data applications (e.g., S3, Redshift).
• Experience with Oracle.
• Ability to conduct research and data analysis.
