About the position

Astrion is seeking a Software Engineer/Developer to join our team in Eglin AFB, Florida, supporting the SEMATS3 Contract for the Air Force SEEK EAGLE Office. This role is pivotal in enhancing mission planning capabilities for the USAF and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) warfighter. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team that is responsible for developing next-generation weapon delivery software, ensuring that our warfighters have the tools they need to succeed in their missions. As a Software Engineer/Developer, you will engage in a collaborative Agile environment, working closely with other developers, testers, and subject matter experts to analyze, design, and implement software features. Your responsibilities will include participating in iteration planning meetings, conducting peer code reviews, and ensuring that development aligns with architectural visions and system designs. You will be expected to leverage your expertise in C# and C++ programming, as well as your knowledge of the .NET ecosystem, to deliver high-quality software solutions. Responsibilities

  • Directly support USAF and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) warfighter mission planning needs.
  • Collaborate with other software developers to analyze, estimate, design and implement features and user stories.
  • Participate in iteration planning meetings with testers and USAF/FMS Subject Matter Experts (SME), daily stand-ups, and technical coordination meetings.
  • Peer review fellow software developer's code and documentation.
  • Work with architectural owners to ensure development meets vision/system designs.
  • Work with technical lead and senior developers in deriving technical requirements from functional requirements.
  • Develop code in C# and C++ on Windows desktop environments.
  • Utilize knowledge of .NET Framework, .NET Standard, and .NET Core in development.
  • Apply familiarity with Domain Driven Design concepts, NUnit/XUnit unit test frameworks, WiX Toolset SDK, and InstallShield for building install packages.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or other applicable technical discipline.
  • Able to develop code in C# and C++ on Windows desktop environments.
  • Knowledge of Domain Driven Design.
  • Knowledge of .NET Framework, .NET Standard, and .NET Core is critical.
  • Familiar with Visual Studio and Azure DevOps.
  • Familiar with unit testing frameworks.
  • Familiarity with WiX Toolset SDK and InstallShield for building install packages.
  • Has worked or has familiarity with disciplined software development processes.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Security Clearance (or ability to obtain one).
  • Current US Citizenship is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Relevant development in Mission Planning for the US Air Force or Navy.
  • Familiarity with Domain Driven Design concepts.
  • Familiarity with React and/or Web based GUI design.
  • Familiarity with micro services.
  • Familiar with Object-Relational Mapping (ORM) frameworks (i.e., Microsoft Entity Framework, Dapper, NHibernate, etc.).
  • Familiar with NUnit/XUnit/MSTest unit test frameworks.
  • Desire to work in a DoD environment with the latest aircraft and weapons.
