About the position

Figma is seeking a skilled engineer to join the FigFile Platform team, responsible for backend services that store and synchronize Figma Design and FigJam files. This role focuses on enhancing the Multiplayer service for low-latency collaboration and managing core infrastructure abstractions. The ideal candidate will contribute to building scalable infrastructure and improving engineering standards while ensuring a seamless experience for developers interacting with Figma files.

Responsibilities

• Work with engineers to build infrastructure that makes working with FigFiles fast, easy, and secure.
• Collaborate with teams across the company to develop innovative features that operate at scale.
• Design, build, and operate scalable infrastructure.
• Engage with stakeholders to understand their needs and prioritize development efforts.
• Improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes.
• Help debug production issues across services and multiple levels of the stack.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience building and scaling distributed systems.
• Proven track record of shipping high-quality products in high growth environments.
• Excellent technical communication skills and experience working across multiple teams.
• Experience mentoring other engineers and promoting a collaborative team culture.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a systematic approach.
• A commitment to software quality and continuous improvement.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in a multi-language environment (Rust, Ruby, TypeScript, Go).
• Experience building and maintaining APIs.
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure.
