About the position

The Software Engineer I position at AppFolio is designed for a passionate individual who will contribute to the development of the Investment Manager product, a leading software platform in real estate investment management. The role emphasizes client-side development, collaboration within a fast-paced team, and the creation of user-friendly SaaS solutions. The ideal candidate will bridge design and technology, focusing on building software that customers love while maintaining a balance between work and personal life.

Responsibilities

  • Develop scalable, robust, and simple web-based solutions to solve complex business problems.
  • Implement new features and optimize existing ones to drive maximum performance.
  • Formulate, implement, and evaluate algorithms and database queries to support SaaS scalability and stability.
  • Use test-driven development, code reviews, and continuous integration to deliver high-quality software and rapidly fix bugs as they come up.
  • Work closely with, and incorporate feedback from other engineering team members, QA, and product owners.
  • Leverage agile practices in start-up mode, encourage collaboration, prioritization, and urgency to develop at a rapid pace.

Requirements

  • BS, MS, or Ph.D. in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
  • 1+ years of hands-on work experience developing web-based applications, preferably in a SaaS environment.
  • 1+ years of working in Ruby, APIs, databases, and other web and cloud technologies.
  • Proven experience working across all levels of the development stack.
  • Familiarity with Agile software development processes: Scrum or Kanban.
  • Familiarity with Test-Driven-Development.

Benefits

  • Base salary range of $104,000 - $130,000 based on skills and experience.
  • Regular full-time employees are eligible for additional benefits and bonuses.
