About the position

As a Software Engineer I at Chewy, you will be responsible for designing and implementing scalable and resilient solutions for pet parents. This role involves building, deploying, and testing APIs and microservices, participating in architecture and code reviews, and contributing to enterprise architecture standards. You will also engage in on-call rotations and be part of a collaborative team focused on continuous learning and improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and implement solutions using varied technologies focusing on scalability, latency, and resiliency.
  • Actively participate in architecture and code reviews to deliver high quality code.
  • Participate in scrum ceremonies such as grooming, planning, demos and retros.
  • Contribute to the team's service architecture, data architecture, dev-ops, infrastructure as code, deployment pipelines and public cloud services.
  • Adhere to enterprise architecture and coding standards.
  • Participate in on-call rotations, solving production issues and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of Software Engineering experience.
  • Experience building, deploying, testing APIs and micro services.
  • Experience in Java and Spring boot/Spring webflux.
  • Experience with Postgres or other database.
  • Bachelor's degree (Computer Science or similar technical field of study preferred), or equivalent work experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Playwright or similar automated testing tools.
  • Experience with AWS or similar cloud platforms.
  • Experience developing CI/CD pipelines in Jenkins or similar tool.
