About the position

Travelers is seeking a Salesforce Software Engineer I to join our organization as we grow and transform our Technology landscape. The individual will complete intermediate end-to-end engineering tasks that span many parts of the system including designing, developing, analyzing, configuring, testing, debugging, troubleshooting, documenting, health monitoring/alerting, and implementing based on user or system specifications. This role requires the individual to demonstrate experience in independently designing, building, and implementing solutions while establishing and championing software engineering best practices and standards. In this position, you will perform analysis, design, development, and configuration functions, which includes defining technical requirements, test design and execution, and test automation with a high degree of expertise, accuracy, quality, and speed. You will also be responsible for performing analysis, assessment, and resolution for defects and incidents of advanced complexity, escalating appropriately when necessary. The role requires you to work independently to tackle well-scoped and loosely scoped problems, while seeking opportunities to expand your technical knowledge and capabilities, as well as your business acumen and Salesforce certifications. Collaboration is key in this role, as you will work with technical leads, architects, platform, and product owners to identify and recommend technical solutions and alternatives related to the Salesforce platform implementation for Travelers. You will assess trade-offs and impact analyses as part of your recommendations. Additionally, you will complete cloud-based implementations through custom development in Salesforce Lightning (Aura, LWC), and Apex, as well as out-of-the-box Salesforce configurations. Ensuring the availability of the Salesforce platform and providing on-call support to resolve application issues when necessary will also be part of your responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform analysis, design, development, configuration functions including defining technical requirements, test design & execution, and test automation.
  • Perform analysis, assessment, and resolution for defects and incidents of advanced complexity and escalate appropriately.
  • Work independently to tackle well-scoped and loosely scoped problems.
  • Seek opportunities to expand technical knowledge & capabilities, business acumen, and Salesforce certifications.
  • Contribute to team requirement refinement, estimation, retrospective, detailed solution design, perform code/test case reviews, and ensure appropriate artifacts are reviewed and approved.
  • Collaborate with technical leads, architects, platform, and product owners to identify and recommend technical solutions and alternatives related to the Salesforce platform implementation.
  • Complete cloud-based implementations through custom development in Salesforce Lightning (Aura, LWC), and Apex, as well as out-of-the-box Salesforce configurations.
  • Ensure availability of the Salesforce platform and provide on-call support to resolve application issues when necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or its equivalent in work experience.
  • One year of programming/development experience as a Salesforce developer (APEX, Aura, LWC) preferred.
  • Three years of programming/development experience as Salesforce developer preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience with Salesforce data integration using MuleSoft.
  • Experience in Agile delivery model.
  • Experience in Salesforce CRM integration, developing and deploying custom integration solutions using APIs and API management systems.
  • Salesforce.com certifications such as Certified Administrator, Certified Platform App Builder, Certified Platform Developer I, Certified Platform Developer II are strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with distributed cross-functional/cross-organizational stakeholders.
  • Experience in application of test design strategies and techniques, knowledge of test automation tools like Selenium, Playwright, Copado and other tools.
  • Experience working with CI/CD processes incorporating test automation.
  • Experience with CA Agile Manager (Rally), Jira or similar ALM tools.
  • Working knowledge of automated deployment / DevOps tools and technologies like Copado.
  • Working knowledge of source control management tools such as Git.

Nice-to-haves

  • Salesforce certifications such as Certified Administrator, Certified Platform App Builder, Certified Platform Developer I, Certified Platform Developer II are strongly preferred.
