About the position

As a Software Engineer II at Nelnet Business Services (NBS), you will be integral to the application development process, focusing on both front-end and back-end technologies. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement innovative software solutions tailored for private, faith-based schools and scholarship organizations. The role emphasizes clean, maintainable code, mentoring junior engineers, and continuous learning in a fast-paced Agile environment.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with a team to design new products and features based on user requirements from Product Owners.
  • Write code and automated tests for new features.
  • Review and provide constructive feedback on development pull requests.
  • Mentor less experienced engineers on their current tasks.
  • Work in an Agile environment, quickly adapting to changes and evolving requirements.
  • Keep technical skills current through continuous learning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years in software development, particularly in delivering enterprise-class web applications.
  • Strong expertise in front-end technologies, including Angular, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML/CSS, JSON, RESTful APIs, Accessibility, Component based architecture, and Security.
  • Working knowledge of C#, ASP.NET Core, .NET Core, and Web API to collaborate effectively with back-end teams.
  • Solid understanding of object-oriented design principles and SOLID principles.
  • Experience developing microservices, with an emphasis on integration with front-end components.
  • Familiarity with Entity Framework for understanding data interactions.
  • Practical experience in building, testing, and consuming RESTful APIs.
