Our Connected Aviation Solutions (CAS) - Air Traffic Solutions - Software Engineering Department (ATS-SED) has immediate early-career opportunities for talented Software Engineers to join a team of 120+ Software Engineers that are developing and supporting our several Air Traffic Control Systems worldwide, such as: STARS, NWP, AutoTrac II, Australia, India, Hong Kong. Our programs are safety-of-life air traffic management systems we have developed for the FAA and international equivalents for use by air traffic controllers controlling civil and military aviation. This is an opportunity to learn new COTS, tools, processes, and methodologies as you focus on improving your skills to support, design, develop, integrate, and test operational software components throughout the SW development life cycle.

Responsibilities

  • Performing/Supporting the software team to design, develop, integrate and test operational and non-operational software updates for our Air Traffic Control (ATC) Product Line software.
  • Updating SW process documentation and work instructions needed to meet ATS SED's high maturity level software engineering standards and processes.
  • Collaborative working with the software team and leadership to support cost and schedule.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 2 years of prior relevant software engineering experience or an Advanced Degree in a STEM related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience working across the full software development lifecycle with C/C++ Programming / structured programming in a Unix/Linux based development environment.
  • Familiarity with object-oriented technology and programming languages, preferably Java.
  • Prior experience in software testing and debugging source code, including familiarity with ClearCase/ClearQuest, Jira, and Bitbucket for configuration management.
  • Knowledge of Unix, Red Hat Linux, Python, SQL, Matlab, bash/ksh scripting.
  • Experience working in a collaborative team environment, requiring frequent multi-level communication with other engineering domains, program management, and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of agile, continuous development/continuous integration (CD/CI), and automated testing concepts.
  • Familiar with Test Driven Development (TDD).
  • Experience with commercial or open-source test automation tools, environments, and frameworks such as Jenkins, Grafana dashboards, Gherkin/Cucumber, Selenium, CUnit/Junit, kickstart.
  • Familiar with database, database schemas, Entity Relationship models, preferably has worked with a relational database such as Oracle/Postgress/SQL Server.
  • Experienced in using integrated software development tools, such as Eclipse, VSCode, JetBrain.
  • Familiarity with Model-View-Controller design pattern for graphical user interface design, Javascript and/or GUI frameworks such as Angular/React experience is a plus.
  • Experience implementing signal processing and/or tracking algorithms in C++.
  • Familiarity with advanced memory management techniques supportive of real time processing of large volumes of data.

  • Experience with commercial or open-source test automation tools, environments, and frameworks such as Jenkins, Grafana dashboards, Gherkin/Cucumber, Selenium, CUnit/Junit, kickstart.
  • Familiarity with Model-View-Controller design pattern for graphical user interface design, Javascript and/or GUI frameworks such as Angular/React experience is a plus.
