About the position
The Cloud Platform Engineer for Big Data Infrastructure at Disney Entertainment & ESPN Technology is responsible for building and maintaining the big data infrastructure that supports Disney's advertising business. This role focuses on developing automation tools for cloud data infrastructure, implementing best practices and security standards, and contributing to shared Terraform modules. The engineer will also engage in troubleshooting and continuous improvement efforts, ensuring stability and efficiency in production environments while supporting data engineering teams.
Responsibilities
- Write automation tools to support developers deploying and running cloud data infrastructure.
- Implement and execute best practices and security standards for operating in the cloud.
- Contribute to a library of shared Terraform modules.
- Participate in investigations and root cause analyses (RCAs) to learn from failures and improve systems.
- Participate in on-call rotations to provide support for the infrastructure.
- Support data engineering teams with tooling and platform needs.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a similar field.
- 2+ years of relevant professional experience in a software engineering role.
- 2+ years of experience with Python or Go.
- 1+ years of experience with Spark or Flink.
- 1+ years of experience with Airflow or Databricks.
- 1+ years of experience running Docker containers on Kubernetes or EKS.
- 1+ years of experience writing Terraform for AWS.
- Experience with DevOps platforms such as Jenkins or Spinnaker.
